Defining Fragrances
For most people the perfume notes most easily identified are those commonly associated with food and taste. Many natural ingredients used in the kitchen have their oils extracted for use in natural flavourings. The same ingredients are also used in the creation of perfumes. Here at Club Parfumerie experience has taught us that there are three primary families that can be recognised by the untrained nose.
Citrus notes, Flowery notes and Sweet notes, a taste descriptor that is often interpreted in perfumery by the use of vanilla and vanilla like notes. Vanilla is just one member of the spice family so we bring together sweet with spicy into a family that is called Oriental. The inspiration is from the spice trail that brought these exotic species to Western Europe from the Orient.
