Oriental family

Sweetness either alone or in combination with traditional culinary spiciness is at the core of this family.
Chocolate, honey and fantasy accords such as candy floss and caramel are all included in this family. This sweetness and depth gives a richer, some call it heavier style of composition with the most long lasting properties of any of the families. Some of the greatest fragrances created in the early days of the era of classical perfumery that are still available today fall into this family.
Ingredients less familiar outside of the industry include tonka bean, opoponax and balsams obtained from the resinous exudations of several different species of trees.
Most perfumes are complex creations and so to provide additional vocabulary to help describe the vast range of perfumes that are generally classified as Floral we use four ‘secondary’ families that are sub-groups. Rarely found in their own right they are mostly used to provide nuances and to add a multifaceted dimension so that the note does not become monotonous.
